The Technion’s dance troupe was established in 1956, and continues to operate successfully to this day!
In 1960, it made its second tour to Europe, on which it was written: “The urban dance troupe of the Technion students went on a European tour last week, and made its first appearance in Bollory, in France, at a gathering of hostels – Youth, held there, on August 21, 1960. The band, numbering 18 people, made its way on the “Adrias” ship, where the passengers enjoyed their time with Hebrew poetry. The band toured Western Europe and performed, among other things, at the Carnival – At the 8th Student Festival in Saint-Tropez – at the World Summer Camp, at the ball of the Zionist Federation in Sweden, and more. The band’s program is divided into 3 parts: Part I – the agricultural holidays in Israel, in which the dances: the desert awakens, the fish market, shepherd and shepherdess, The wine and wine part 2 – from the Israeli folklore with dances such as: “Sharla”, a Yemeni dance, “Dakka Rafih” and a string of Israeli folk dances part 3 – the last part is the song of the dancers: Ruth Ashkenazi, Penny Doas, Ilana Greenberger, Sarah Kostman, Bila Maas, Margalit Nera, Zvi Ashkenazi, Shalot Anabel, Fredi Hitzel, Uri Manba, Moshe Niv and Dan Schnir. Accompanying the band: singer Hana Pacinik, accordionist Yehuda Ratz, choreographer Uri Katz, who is in charge of the band Uzi Rosen, composer of the music Eli Netzer, and band director Yoram Elster. This was the second tour of the Technion troupe, which was founded 4 years ago, after two years before, the Israeli dancers performed at the youth hostel convention, as part of the world exhibition in Brussels and even won the first prize.
