Prof. Joseph Breuer, director of the Technion 1930-1931

Joseph Breuer was an Israeli scientist, a professor in the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Technion. He planned the draining of most of the marshes in the Jezreel Valley. Breuer was born in Hungary and studied at the Budapest Polytechnic, which at that time was known as one of the best schools in Central Europe. Prof. Breuer worked as an independent engineer and a contractor first in Hungary and then in Czechoslovakia in swamp drying, and water engineering. In 1921 he immigrated to Israel and engaged in the planning of draining swamps. He was the first professor of water engineering at the Technion.
