Faculty of Data and Decision Sciences is the new name of the Faculty of Industrial Engineering and Management at the Technion. The name change follows two major changes in the field that have taken place in recent decades: the information systems revolution and the fourth industrial revolution which connected management and data, computing and industry. Established as an academic department at the Technion in 1958 according to the vision of Prof. Pinhas Naor, who served as its first dean, the department’s curriculum combined the industrial engineering curriculum offered in engineering schools with the management curriculum offered in business administration schools to establish a large, multidisciplinary faculty.
